Bad Breath Causes

Imagine a situation when you are talking to a person in close proximity and you have bad breath. That is quite embarrassing when you see people avoiding you  because of this. There are many bad breath causes.

Bad breath can be produced from the kind of food that you eat. The breaking down of the food may cause bad breath as the food can produce a strong odour. A few of the foods that you eat may also contain volatile oil, which is another source of bad breath. Garlic and onions are the best examples of such kinds of a food. What happens to these foods after digestion is that the oil gets absorbed into the bloodstream. They are carried to the lungs and then released through the breath. Did you know that onions and garlic can cause bad breath for 73 continuous hours after their intake!

Another cause of bad breath could be due to dental problems. When a person does not maintain proper oral hygiene, then that invariably will be the cause of bad breath. This is because if brushing and flossing are not done the way they should be then it may add to the accumulation of bacteria. This then starts to emit hydrogen sulphide vapours which cause bad breath. Plaque can cause tooth decay and gingivitis. All these are a result of lack of maintaining a proper dental hygiene on a regular basis. Even dentures, if not cleaned properly, can cause bad breath!

Bad breath can be caused from having a dry mouth. Usually what happens is that the saliva in your mouth helps to moisten and cleanse your mouth. But a dry mouth helps in gathering of dead cells on the sides of your gums, cheek and tongue. These cells then decompose and produce a bad odour in your mouth. Your mouth generally dries out at night while sleeping and this causes morning breath which is the result of dry mouth.

Sinus is another major hindrance in dental care. The discharge from the sinuses can cause bad breath. It is similar to how bronchitis, upper respiratory and throat infections are the root cause of bad breath. You may not be able to control infections but you can definitely take care of bad breath and keep at a bay.

Tobacco and smoking are an additional causes of bad breath as well as periodontal diseases. Even extreme dieting ca also causes bad breath and ketoacidosis. Ketoacidosis is a breakdown process of chemicals when fasting which causes an unlikeable fruity smell.

Bad breath bothers not only the individual suffering from it but also people around them. Once you assess the reason for your bad breath, you can go ahead and take necessary steps to curb it. As an initiation replace your old toothbrush with the new one or carry mouth fresheners. If the problem still persists, then it is advisable that you go and visit a doctor.
